Obituary of Alice Andrea Minter

MINTER - Alice Minter passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the age of 78. She was born in Parkside, Saskatchewan on August 27th, 1928 to Benjamin and Andrea Peters. She went to school in Davis. At the age of fourteen, after the death of her father, she went to work at the Box Factory in Prince Albert to help support her family. In 1948 she married Len Minter and they moved to Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Here she raised her family of seven children. Alice volunteered for many church activities and was active on the ACW. She enjoyed music and loved to dance with the Happy Harvester's Old Time Dance Club. She enjoyed gardening, craft making, quilting and acting. She will best be remembered for her baking. Norwegian baking was her specialty and her decorated birthday cakes were a delightful treat for her family. She also decorated many cakes for weddings and anniversaries in the community. She worked for numerous years as a retail clerk and retired as a Dietary Aide at the Pineview Lodge Nursing Home. In 1999, Len and Alice retired to Prince Albert. She is survived by her husband, Leonard and six children: Delbert (Marion) Minter, Terry (Margaret) Minter, Daryl (Val) Minter, Gayle (Blair) Nelson, Sharon (Brad) Barlow and Vaughn (Angie) Minter. Alice is also survived by her son-in-law Robert Daudelin; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Ingrid Olsen and brother Henry (Ilene) Peters. She was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Andrea Peters; her sister Mary Anderson and her daughter Elaine Daudelin. Funeral Service will be held at St. David's Anglican Church in Prince Albert, on Monday, April 16th, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Guy Bellerby officiating. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.
