Obituary of Kenneth Wayne Schutte
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SCHUTTE - Ken lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, April 6, 2007. He was surrounded by his family as we said our last goodbyes. Ken was born on October 19, 1949 to Cyril and Pheabe Schutte (nee Fisher) of Parkside, SK. The family moved to Briarlea in 1962. Ken was a farmer from the start, saving his pennies to buy chickens, geese and ducks. He always had a soft spot in his heart for animals and became a very successful cattle breeder and farmer. He married the love of his life, June Strube on
April 3, 1971 and they farmed side by side for 36 years. Ken and June had two children Stacey and Cory. Stacey and her husband Chris Monette, have two beautiful daughters, Samantha and Cadence, "The Munchkins" as Ken called them. Ken had an amazing sense of humour and was "King of the one-liners". He worked hard and he played hard. His outgoing personality never failed to attract new friends. He enjoyed everything from card dealing to auction sales. He enjoyed the winter vacations he and June shared and was always the "life of the party" at any gathering. When Ken entered the room, the fun began... Ken will be missed by his wife June (nee Strube), his daughter Stacey Monette and her husband Chris, their two little girls Samantha and Cadence; his son Cory; his mother Pheabe Schutte; brothers Lorrie (Sharon), Ed (Marlene); his sister Teresa (Randy Collins); his mother-in-law Adeline Strube; sisters-in-law Donna (Peder Skotheim), Leann (Ryan Sandry); brother-in-law Gerald (Joan Strube) and numerous nieces and nephews who were a big part of Ken's life. He was predeceased by his father, Cyril in 1994 and his father-in-law Gordon Strube in 1999. The family is requesting that in lieu of other tributes, donations could be made to the Hematology - Stem Cell Transplant Division, Saskatoon, SK. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April, 11, 2007 at the Shellbrook Elks Hall, with Pastor Doug Schmirler officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.
