Obituary of Mary Enns

Maria (Mary) Enns, passed away at the at the age of 92 at Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino Saskatchewan on January 6th, 2020. Mary was born on the farm at Silberfeld Manitoba on July 9th, 1927 to parents John and Aganetha Hildebrand. Mary was one of 12 children who all remained close as they left home and lived their lived in different places. Mom stayed on the farm after school to help her dad after her mom passed away and she tended the garden, fed the sugar beat harvesters, milked the cows and grew close to here nieces and nephews. When Mary was approximately 30 she went back to school and became a teacher in a small one room school house in southern Manitoba. After further education she moved to Thompson Manitoba to teach grade three. Mary spent her summers traveling and volunteering. One summer she volunteered at a summer camp for under-funded children in Biloxi Mississippi. Another summer she traveled with her friend to Europe for a month and to Kenya and Burundi Africa that same summer to visit her brother Menno. During her time in Thompson Manitoba, she met her future husband, Ben Enns. The two of them were married on November 2nd 1968 and they continued to live in Thompson. Over the next many years, they started a family and moved to Brandon, Manitoba. It was during this time that they were called into the ministry and with her husband as the pastor and Mary by his side they ministered with the Church of the Nazarene in Wapella and Prince Albert Saskatchewan. Mom was a major support over these years and was often very much apart of the work. Mom had a strong faith and hope in her Saviour, Jesus. She was a prayer warrior, spent much time in God’s Word and gave selflessly to others. Mary will always be remembered for her amazing homecooked dinners, Mennonite perogies, baking and especially the gravy! Mary is survived by her son Tim (Lindsay) Enns; daughter Sandra (Cory) Kirtzinger; Grandsons Noah and Joshua Enns; Siblings Jake Hildebrand, Tina Peters, Ed Hildebrand, and Anne(Abe) Peters and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her husband Ben Enns; Siblings: Hatti Dyck, Harry Hildebrand, Peggy Penner, Peter Hildebrand, John Hildebrand, Hugo Hildebrand, Menno Hildebrand. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28 Street West, Prince Albert, SK with her son, Rev. Tim Enns officiating. A small interment will follow at PA Memorial Gardens for those wishing to attend. The family would like to thank the loving care-givers at Ika’s Home, Prince Albert and Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino for the wonderful care of their mother these past 3 years as she struggled with Dementia.
