Obituary of Gill Royal Antaya

Gill Antaya January 6, 1922 ~ February 5, 2020 It is with great sadness that the family of Gill Antaya announce his peaceful passing at his home on February 5, 2020 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 98 years. Gill was born on January 6, 1922 to Paul and Olive Antaya in Goldburn, SK. He was a loving brother of Gaston (Bud), Kay, Ray, Clarice, Marcel, Pauline and Lyola. Gill was a beloved husband and father. He will be forever remembered by Eileen, Dana (Grant) and Gale (Francois). His grandchildren Teevin, Caleb and Tairas were the light of his life and they will miss his gentle presence. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Gill was a sapper in the Royal Canadian Engineers (1939-1945 and 1951-1953), serving in Europe, Chilliwack, BC and Oromocto, NB. He settled in Prince Albert in 1953. A hands-on man, he became certified as a steam engineer and a small-motor mechanic, using those trades for work in Otter Lake and Prince Albert. He retired from the Department of Highways at age 65. Gill loved being outdoors, whether it was hiking through the trails at Little Red, fishing, or taking in a local car show. He also loved a good game of cards, an old movie, or a great joke. He will be remembered for his wicked sense of humour, his outgoing nature, his love of all things, cars, and his love of family and friends. Gill’s family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Cantin, Dr. Maciel, and the staff of Parkland Health Regional Home Care for the exceptional care they provided. In memory of Gill, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A Private Celebration of Gill’s Life will be held in the spring of 2020.
