GORDON LORNE BOYD OBITUARY

GORDON LORNE BOYD was born Feb. 20, 1951 in Prince Albert and passed away on December 25, 2021, at the age of 70. Gordon was born with Down Syndrome.  Gordon’s life and well-being was always the focus and dedication of his mother who provided unwavering love and care for Gordon until her passing at age 95.  As a child he had the opportunity to attend the Kinsmen School with his favorite teacher Marg Wettergreen.

He was later able to go to the Kinsmen Workshop/Kin Enterprise and Sage which he attended for a total of 50 years.  His attendance to these centres formed a very important part of his life.

He was a very gentle and happy person who loved his family and friends and especially the family of Arnold and Jean Friesen.  Gordon was able to have a semi-independent life through the services of the Prince Albert Group Home Society and the Independent Living Program.  He required more care and was moved to the Herb Bassett Home where he received excellent care.  Gordon loved his Saturday morning bowling.  He loved going to Raider games and was a fan of the Roughriders and the Blue Jays.  Gordon always watched hockey on TV and kept track of the score in his notebook.  He liked to travel and visit family members in the various locations in Canada, USA and Mexico and would fly by himself to Victoria.

Gordon was predeceased by his father Clayton Boyd, and his mother Jean Swenson and step father (Trygve Swenson).  His grandparents Alex and Daisy Graham and his special uncle and aunt Lawson and Marie Graham. He dearly loved his beagle Mike. He is survived by his sister Lynda Allbright (Brian), and his brother Graham Boyd (Andy Beaudette), his niece Erin Allbright and nephews, John (Fran) Allbright and Scott Allbright, as well has three great nephews, Vaheed Janfada, Keon Janfada and Jack Allbright, and cousins. A private family service and interment for Gordon will be held at a later date due to COVID-19.

It is the families request in lieu of flowers that a donation could be made to Sage Kin Enterprise or Herb Bassett Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel 306-922-4729.
