Roman ”Ron” William Adamko

1936 – 2023

Ron Adamko passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital on May 30, 2023 at 86 years of age.

Ron was born to John and Gertrude Adamko on August 23, 1936, in Prince Albert.  He was raised on the farm and dedicated his entire life to farming.  From a young age, he worked tirelessly alongside his father and brother, learning the traditions, techniques, and values that would shape his future. His unwavering dedication and passion for farming led him to establish his own farm, where he poured his heart and soul into cultivating the land, and caring for livestock.

In 1959, he married Pat and began a family.  Together they had 3 children which extended to 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  Recently they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary!

Outside of farming, Ron found joy in sharing his love for music.   For many years he played the fiddle in a band and sang in the church choir.  He also spent many hours playing the fiddle for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren passing on a passion for music.

Ron exemplified the true spirit of community, dedicating his time and energy to the betterment of those he served.  For many years he served as a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He also served as a member of the Prince Albert and District Ukrainian Heritage Club (Veselka) and was President of St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church for many years.

He was predeceased by:  his father and  mother John and Gertie Adamko; his father and mother in-law Stanley and Sophie Chestolowsky; and his brother Ed Adamko.

He is survived by:  his wife Pat Adamko; his daughters Gail Adamko and Elaine Krawec (Pat); his son Jeff Adamko (Jo-anne); his grandchildren Ashley Kerley (Adam), Jamie Brahniuk (Vanessa), Jason Brahniuk (Hillary), Chelsie Bergen (Matt), Chantal Harder (Jeff), Tara Knipe (Kevin), and Cody Futerko (Kate-lynn);  his 16 great grandchildren: Avery, Annika, Ashton, Brooklyn, Kashton, Greyson, Emma, Lewi, Maks, Liam, Reid, Caden, Jase, Caleb, Elainah, and Siennah; his brother Jim Adamko (Helen) and his children Darryl Adamko (Carla) and Val Marceniuk (Brad) and their children; his sister-in-law Helen Adamko and her children Deborah Davis (Dale), Della Dearing (Syd), Diane Lavoie (Brian), Larry Adamko, and their children and grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital level 4 and 6 staff for the great care and comfort they provided to Ron during his time there.  Also thank you to Gray's Funeral Chapel and Prince Albert Memorial Gardens for their excellent and compassionate care provided to our family during this difficult time.

A private graveside service will be held for the family.  Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the charity of donor's choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729, Lisa Bos-Atchison, Funeral Director.
